The YDP-145 features a piano sound sampled from Yamaha's flagship CFX concert grand piano, a renowned piano offering sparkling highs and powerful, resonant lows combined in a superbly expressive sound.

With the action of an 88-key piano, the GHS (Graded Hammer Standard) keyboard emulates the touch of an acoustic piano, giving a naturally heavier feel in the lower keys and a lighter touch in the upper octaves. It provides the response and feel of a grand piano, allowing for quick note repetition and authentic expressive control. In addition, there is a half-pedal function that authentically replicates the action of the dampers on a grand piano, providing rich expressive variation.

One of the attractions of a grand piano is the sympathetic resonance created by the vibration of the entire instrument. The YDP-145 elaborately reproduces this rich resonance through a revolutionary technology called Virtual Resonance Modeling Lite (VRM Lite). VRM Lite creates a richly varied sound by simulating the complex sympathetic sounds created when string vibrations are propagated to the soundboard and other strings, corresponding to the timing and intensity with which the keys and pedals are played.

The YDP-145 uses a newly developed cabinet design, which spreads sound from inside the piano. This allows you to experience the natural sound dispersion and three-dimensional resonance similar to an acoustic piano.

Naturally, the YDP-145 also has other built-in instrument sounds, a total of 10 voices, including electric piano, organ, vibraphone, and strings. The YDP-145 also has 353 built-in songs, including 50 famous classical pieces and 303 practical exercises from famous methods, such as Beyer, Burgmüller, Czerny, and Hanon. The instrument is also compatible with Yamaha's free Smart Pianist app: simply download the app to your smart device and connect it to the instrument.

With the Smart Pianist app, you can easily activate the instrument's various Voice functions and use it to recall the sheet music for the built-in songs. It also features a comprehensive Piano Room function to modify the tonal quality and resonance of a piano sound.

The YDP-145 uses new technology that optimally corrects the sound balance according to the set volume, giving you an exceptionally natural sound that is easy to listen to and gentle on the ears, even when playing for extended periods. It also has the Stereophonic Optimizer effect that allows you to enjoy the natural and spatial sound you experience sitting in front of a grand piano, even when wearing headphones.

While primarily based on straight lines, it has an elegant design with the graceful curves of a grand piano.
